Stations of the Cross Pöstlingberg

The Way of the Cross is a street in the Pöstlingberg district of Linz. It runs a little over a kilometer from Petrinumstraße to An der Mayrwiesen on the Pöstlingberg. The street is named after the function of the way of the pilgrims to the Pöstlingberg church, since 1954 also officially. Agricultural land is located along the Way of the Cross.

Excerpt from the chronicle of the Pöstlingberg parish from 1873: "This year Pöstlingberg received a new Way of the Cross on the way from Leisenhof to the Gnadenorte. Previously, in the 1950s, a woman at Leisenhof had painted Ways of the Cross painted on metal pillars on wooden pillars. After After her death, she donated capital of 900 guilders to Depil (owner of the Leisenhof) to maintain the Way of the Cross Foundation. A request was made that this matter should be taken care of, which is what happened. ...A citizen from Ottensheim took over the building of the seven double chapels....provided the 14 images made of terracotta.... It was decreed that the chapels would always be tolerated on the grounds for future times and repairs could be made. In 1873 the Way of the Cross was consecrated by Bishop Rudigier..." the weather was wonderful. The Reverend Bishop, who was well together despite the effort, spoke from the pulpit for three quarters of an hour about the meaning of the Way of the Cross."
