하이킹
There are various routes available around Schmiedefeld within the Nordic Fitness Park, which are 1.6 to 12.6 km in length.
The best way to get to the routes is from the Schmiedefeld sports field, from the Ringberg Resort Hotel in Suhl and from the community of Vesser.
The routes lead past beautiful viewpoints, through scenic areas and resting places (e.g. Schmiedefeld lift hut).
There are exercise signs on which further instructions on fitness and correct walking are given.
The height profile and the degree of difficulty are indicated on the entrance signs.

The Rennsteig is an approximately 170 km long ridge trail and a historic border trail in the Thuringian Forest, Thuringian Slate Mountains and Franconian Forest.
It is also the oldest and, with around 100,000 hikers annually, the most popular long-distance hiking trail in Germany.
It begins in the Eisenach district of Hörschel on the banks of the Werra and ends in Blankenstein (Rosenthal am Rennsteig) at the Selbitzbrücke.
Its signpost is a white R.
