Eskelhem is the name of the sock and the district.
It is located in the western part of central Gotland, south of Visby. The history of the present-day town dates back to the Middle Ages. In 1897, a railway line was built from Klintehamm to Romakloster to transport sugar beets to the sugar refinery in Roma.
