The Old Nikola churchyard is located in the Kameshkovsky district, a quiet and remote place with picturesque nature, on the outskirts of the Vladimir region, next to the Ivanovo region.
In ancient written documents of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, this churchyard is listed as the patrimony of the Suzdal Pokrovsky Convent, which had "royal charters" for the right to own it from Ivan the Terrible, Vasily Ivanovich Shuisky, from 1606, and Mikhail Feodorovich Romanov, from 1623. Tsar of All Rus' Ivan IV (the Terrible) in 1550 granted the Suzdal Pokrovsky Convent a Torkhalnaya charter (non-judicial) for the ownership of the patrimony. "
In 1764, the parish monastery settlements came under the jurisdiction of the State College of Economy and since then were in the state department. In 1791, instead of a wooden church, thanks to the efforts of the parishioners, a small, single-domed, warm stone church was built, together with a tent-roofed stone bell tower. It was consecrated under its former name - in honor of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. In 1894-1895, the warm church of the churchyard was expanded, and a warm side chapel was built in the name of the Prophet of God Elijah. The initiator of this construction was priest I. P. Chizhev.
A large cold stone five-domed church was built and consecrated in 1817 thanks to the efforts of the local priest Yegor Vasilyevich Sturnitsky. The stone church fence surrounding both churches completed the formation of the complex of stone buildings of the churchyard.
