The lake is supplied by springs in Kaltental with water flowing through the Reinsburgstollen under the Schwabtunnel to the lake of fire.
Unfortunately, many people use the lake as a rubbish dump, so the bicycles, snowboards and shopping trolleys as well as car batteries have been removed due to the few expensive cleaning operations that have taken place so far. In hot summers, the lake was already an odor nuisance. In 2014, the city invested over € 600,000 and, among other things, renovated the South Bank. East and West banks are to follow.

The Johanneskirche Stuttgart on Feuersee in the west of Stuttgart is a neo-Gothic church and was built between 1865 and 1876 under the direction of the Württemberg architect Christian von Leins. The structure is located in the fire pond at Feuersee and is an architectural masterpiece. During World War II the church was badly hit by Allied air raids.
The church was rebuilt between 1948 and 1966. The missing top of Stuttgart's Johanneskirche was replaced by a platform with a parapet. It serves as a memorial against the war.
The Feuersee in Stuttgart West was artificially created as a water reservoir in the 18th century. A local fishing association operates the lake as a fish breeding site.
When visiting the west of Stuttgart, you should not miss this attraction. By the way, the Feuersee Festival also takes place here every year.
