The hill lies on the French-Belgian border, its summit reaching 152 meters. On the French side, the slope is called Mont Noir, after the hamlet of the same name at the summit. The hill is on the border of Westouter in Belgium and Sint-Janskappel and the territory of Boeschepe in France. The name comes from the family name De Zwarte, who owned the mountain in the 13th and 14th centuries.
