The seat of the Harghita County Council is located in the Administrative Palace on Piaţa Libertăţii. The county has approximately 305,000 inhabitants, 83 percent of whom are of Hungarian descent and 16 percent Romanian. Harghita County has an area of 6,639 square kilometers. Construction measures to increase energy efficiency are currently underway.
