The town hall, with its beautiful sandstone facade, was built between 1907 and 1911.

The 106-meter-high town hall tower dominates the city skyline and represents urban self-confidence. The town hall tower was modeled after the bell tower in Venice

and was inaugurated by Kaiser Wilhelm II in November 1911.

At a height of almost 70 meters, there is a visitor platform, which you can reach by elevator. From up here, you have a fantastic view of Kiel's old town and the fjord.

The town hall tower houses the city archives with books and films on Kiel's history. The foyer is decorated with paintings, portraits of former Kiel mayors, and sculptures.

The old paternoster lift is a very special sight, one of the few remaining operating paternoster lifts in Germany.
