Next to the ancient churchyard of the village of Leonovo there is a beautiful church, consecrated in the name of the Epiphany of the Lord. And in the 16th century, on the site of the village of Leonovo there was the village of Krutets. This village is an ancient patrimony of the Trinity-Sergius Monastery "with forests, meadows and wastelands and thickets and lakes and fisheries, beaver hunts and arable lands ..." It is known that since 1574, brothers Matthew, Grigory and Yuri Lovchikov lived here. The monastery patrimony developed. In the census books of 1678, in addition to the village of Krutets, which was part of the monastery's property, Omutishchi, Krutoe and Petushki are also named.
The Church of the Epiphany was first mentioned in the census book of the 17th century. In 1818, after graduating from the Vladimir Seminary, priest Yegor Zotovich Smirnov was sent to the church in the village of Krutets. During his service, in 1820, the construction of the currently existing stone church with a bell tower began in place of the wooden church.
