Martin Haller was a so-called "Old Eagle", an association of personalities who made a name for themselves as aviation pioneers through special aeronautical achievements in the civil and military sectors and as scientists, designers, teachers, researchers, publicists and sponsors for the aerospace industry . Martin Haller acquired his pilot's license in 1913 at the historic Berlin-Johannisthal airfield. In 1914, Martin Haller acquired his military pilot's license. In 1915 he was shot down, survived and escaped from Russian captivity in 1918. He died in 1994 at the age of 99.
