The picturesque Eibsee at 973 meters is a magnet for visitors. The Zugspitze is reflected in the crystal clear water. A circular path surrounds the lake and offers numerous places to linger and enjoy the panorama.
Cyclists and mountain bikers can drive around the lake almost completely on a wide, paved gravel path. Only a few hundred meters between Hotel Eibsee and the south bank are not intended for cyclists.
If you come from Grainau, it is best to take the path that leads from the Grainau district of Aigen (near Badersee) around the Zirmerskopf to the north bank. From there you circle the lake in a westerly direction and end at the parking lot. This is certainly the quietest way to get to the lake.
In sunny weather, there is a lot going on at the Eibsee regardless of the day of the week. It pays to be early.
Lying areas for bathers are rare. If you come from the direction of the parking lot, the first one is right after the boathouse, where the pedal boats are also located. You will find another one a few hundred meters further on the south bank after the small Frillensee.
