The Ihme-Zentrum in Hanover is a monumental building complex in the Linden-Mitte district, located directly on the Ihme River. It was conceived in the 1970s as a visionary project for a "city within a city" – with apartments, offices, shops, and its own infrastructure on multiple levels.

Architecturally influenced by Brutalism, the center consists of four residential high-rise buildings with over 800 apartments, a spacious basement with commercial space, and a two-story underground parking garage. The idea was to densify urban life while simultaneously decoupling it from car traffic – with bridges, ramps, and traffic-free interior areas.

Despite its central location and original vision, the Ihme-Zentrum is today a symbol of failed urban planning.
