Situated 6 kilometres west of Krasnaya Gorbatka, the village of Tuchkovo on the Kolp River is one of the most significant historical sites in today's Selivanovsky District.
A church existed there as early as the 17th century, being the centre of a large parish. Thus, the village of Khvostsovo on the right bank of the Kolp was the patrimony of the ancient noble family of the Koltovskys. This family became famous in history thanks to the marriage of Anna Koltovskaya in 1572 with Tsar Ivan the Terrible. The descendants of Tsarina Anna's brothers lived in the vicinity of Tuchkovo until the end of the 1850s, the last of whom was Major General Yevgeny Koltovsky. There is a legend that the Tsarina herself came to rest in Kolp and stayed in the nearby village of Moshok with the boyar Vorotynsky.
