Instead of the old theater from 1868, the new theater was built in 1928 in Neoclassic style. It bears the name Božena-Němcová.

On the program of this Franzensbader Theater are both acting performances, as well as a variety of music productions. Apart from visiting professional theater ensembles, a local amateur ensemble also plays here. The performances are offered in both Czech and German.

The theater building, designed by the Viennese architect Hügl, opened its doors in 1868. The antique-looking theater became too small in the 1920s. So the city fathers decided in 1927 to modernize the building. It got what it looks like today.
