It is impressive how the Steinerne Rinne "winds" through the forest here with its 80 meters in length.

Very worth seeing stone gutter. You can easily combine it with the Hoher Brunnen limestone tuff terrace on a hike. Please do not enter or touch either.
There is also another stone gully in Franconian Switzerland near Roschlaub, which is not as high but just as worth seeing.

                        Stone channel

Stone channels, also called growing stones, are formed by lime deposits from flowing water. Usually a stream digs its way into its bed through the erosive power of the flowing water. In the case of stone channels, however, the lime deposits raise the stream bed.
A spring rises south of Erasbach, which is fed from the shallow karst of the White Jura. As it flows through the limestone, the cool groundwater dissolves the carbonate. When it emerges at the surface of the earth, the water is heated and the carbonate it carries with it precipitates. In interaction with mosses and algae, the "stone channel" was formed from calcareous tuff. At 80 meters, it is one of the longest examples of its kind. The width of the base is 85 centimeters and that of the upper edge up to 30 centimeters. The water temperature at the spring fluctuates between 7.5 degrees and 8.5 degrees over the course of the year. As long as the water supply between the spring and the stone channel is not interrupted, it will grow steadily higher, by a few millimeters every year.
The spring is also known colloquially as the "French fountain" and is located at a height of 507.7 m above sea level. The spring discharge is about two liters per second, but can also rise to up to nine liters after rainfall or when the snow melts. According to tradition, Frenchmen camped near Berching during a drought in the 17th or 18th century and exchanged the water for food. This could be how the name "French fountain" came about.

Erasbach's Steinerne Gully is an approximately 80 meter long and up to 80 centimeter high moss-covered chalk tufa channel. The base of the gutter is up to 85 centimeters and the top edge is up to 30 centimeters wide. In the flatter lower slope, the channel becomes lower, narrower and flows towards the Erasbach, which flows into the Sulz.

The stone channel can easily be combined with the limestone tuff terrace "Hoher Brunnen" on a hike. Both are great natural works of art that must not be touched or entered.
