The "goat trail" is about 4 km long and starts from the Acqua Menta site in the south and ends at the Casa Degli Alpini in the north. It is a very rugged trail that requires excellent technical and athletic preparation and a great deal of experience, especially if you cross it as I did with a bike weighing 38 kg in total.
In particular, starting from the south towards the north:
- In the first km that leads to Sella Polverello, the greatest difficulty lies in the presence of a very narrow uphill path with Erica shrubs on the sides of the path that severely limit the passage
- In the second km, the first downhill from the Sella, the greatest difficulty is determined by the presence of a landslide that affects about 10 meters of the path. The risk of falling down is really high given that the path narrows in some places to 20cm!!
- In the third km, the greatest difficulty is represented by the presence of very large rocks and stones on the path and by height changes of even 1 - 1.5 meters. The difficulty increases exponentially if it rains or the rocks are wet. Pay maximum attention!!!!!!
- The last km before arriving at the Alpine house is perhaps the least dangerous but never think of it as a walk: rocks and large stones on the path, narrowings, rills and crossings of various springs/streams are present throughout its length.
