In the battles of the Battle of Leipzig near Leipzig in October 1813 Güldengossa was within the southern battlefield. It was taken by both fighting parties several times and thereby almost completely destroyed. The Russian-Prussian monument north of Güldengossa commemorates the beginning of the fighting. Here Prince Eugen of Württemberg, who commanded the Russian troops, and Colonel Klüx opened with the Prussian troops on October 16, 1813, the Battle of Wachau against Napoleon. At the sad end of the battle, sad for many soldiers, there is a soldier's grave in the park of the castle, which served as a military hospital.
