    Perched atop a wooded hill 150 meters above the Moselle River, the picturesque Cochem Imperial Castle rises, its towers, oriels, and battlements adorned with turrets. Its origins date back to the 11th century. After being destroyed by French troops during the War of the Palatine Succession at the end of the 17th century, the Berlin iron manufacturer Louis Ravené rebuilt the complex in the Neo-Gothic style starting in 1868 – during the Romantic era of castle architecture.

    The castle tavern offers a variety of savory and sweet dishes, as well as a covered panoramic terrace overlooking Cochem and the Moselle Valley. In the vaulted cellar, guests can participate in a rustic medieval feast (Fri/Sat, reservations required).

      For €10 admission plus a guided tour, you can't really complain. The tour is very informative and entertaining and lasts about 40 minutes. It also takes you into some beautiful interiors.
