    The Schuivenhuisje (sliding house) was built in 1887 and has the status of a national monument in the Netherlands.
    The sliding house had the function of regulating the water at a time when ships still sailed on the Nordhorn-Almelo canal.

      The Schuivenhuisje (from the left: sliding house, also called Dinkelhuisje) is a weir in Denekamp in the Dutch province of Overijssel.

      

      Schuivenhuisje

      The Schuivenhuisje has a length of about 15 meters and is quite narrow at about 1.5 meters. It was built in 1887 and has the status of a Rijksmonument.
      The water regulation for the Nordhorn-Almelo Canal was implemented via the Schuivenhuisje. When shipping on this canal was stopped in 1960, it lost its function. A thorough restoration took place in 2005.
