On the shore, where the land gently meets the surface of the water, stretches the Crovraghan Pier, or as the locals say, "Cé chró bhreachain". This traditional cattle walk tells a story of farmers and their close connection to water. Farmers once lived on the small island of Illnaubeg in the estuary and tended their livestock for the market. And although no one lives there today, the image of farmers regularly transporting their livestock across the waterway is a familiar and timeless sight.
For those who want to experience the atmosphere of this place while taking a walk, a paved single track road, typical of rural areas, leads directly to the pier. As this is an agricultural road, it is advisable to wear high visibility clothing to remain visible to passing farmers. If you arrive by car, you will find gravel pullouts along the way where you can park easily.
