The current main entrance to Waasmont Castle, which you can see very close up from here (as well as part of the garden).

The grounds are otherwise completely walled and the complex also includes a closed farm (on the other side of the domain) where a mill and sugar factory were once housed.

In 1840, the castle belonged to Albert Marnef, who became the owner of the Artois breweries in Leuven through an inheritance. It is worth walking around the entire domain, even if you mainly see walls. After all, in addition to beautiful views of the castle, there are also remnants from the castle's industrial past and here and there you can see some of the special trees. Some sides are really beautifully situated and this domain is almost a centre in the centre of Waasmont, where the church seems to be nothing in terms of size.

Short description: "Castle from around 1783 with walled estate with old trees; pleasure garden in 1830 approximately 1.5 hectares, reduced to half in 1838 by the construction of a sugar factory and a mill; factory demolished in 1918, former industrial part redeveloped and replanted."
