The Fryderyk Chopin Monument in Warsaw's Łazienki Park is an Art Nouveau monument depicting the composer under a stylized willow tree. Its design was created as a result of a competition in 1908, and the author of the sculpture was Wacław Szymanowski. The monument was unveiled in 1926, but in 1940 it was destroyed by the Germans. Reconstruction was completed in 1958. Since 1959, Chopin concerts have been held there. The monument has its copies in Japan and Gliwice.

The idea of commemorating Fryderyk Chopin appeared among the members of the Warsaw Music Society in 1876, but in the political conditions of the time it could not be realized. The situation changed in 1901, when the Polish opera singer Adelaide Bolska obtained verbal consent from Tsar Nicholas II to erect the monument, and the Warsaw Governor General gave permission to establish the Committee for the Construction of the Chopin Monument in Warsaw on 1 January 1902.

In 1908, a competition was announced for the design of the monument, which was decided in May 1909. Among the people of culture and art, the jury included Antoine Bourdelle, Józef Pius Dziekoński and Leopold Méyet. The indicated location for the monument was Plac Warecki (currently Plac Powstańców Warszawy), and only Polish artists could participate in the competition. Out of 66 works, the design by Wacław Szymanowski (sculpture) and Franciszek Mączyński (architectural design) was selected. The monument depicted the figure of a seated Fryderyk Chopin, listening intently to the rustle of a willow tree.
