The "Place de la Bourse" is located directly on the banks of the Garonne between the Quai du Maréchal Lyautey and the Quai de la Douane. The rectangular square was laid out between 1730 and 1755 according to the plans of the architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel, the chief architect of King Louis XV. The fountain of the three Graces (Thalia, Aglaia and Euphrosyne) designed by the sculptor Alphonse Gumery has stood in its center since 1869. It shows three statues pouring jugs of water into the well.
