Terneuzen is a tough, hospitable port city on the Western Scheldt that is full of history and sights. And where there is plenty to do. From a nice walk along the Scheldeboulevard to a visit to the Museum Schooltijd.
Terneuzen has a strong bond with the water and has been closely related to shipping since its origins. One of the largest locks in the world is now being built on the impressive lock complex of Terneuzen.
A tradition in the city are the Harbor Days in and around the port of Terneuzen. During the annual harbor days you can enjoy live music, nautical activities and old-fashioned conviviality.

Not too big but a nice number of streets to walk through the oldest part of Terneuzen and have something to eat or drink!

Old Terneuzen is an entire street and includes Kandeelsträat, Vissteeg Toulpad, and Brugpad. There are many interesting buildings and murals.

I was told about a painting that depicts the history of the people who lived on the street. The fish represents the fishmonger, the toilet block, and a latrine that used to be located in the street. The black figures represent the city's first "Black" person, who founded the bar Porgy and Bess and hosted jazz evenings there. The musicians can also be seen.
