In 1935 a memorial was erected on the Bismarckstein for those who fell in the Navy during the First World War. A great vantage point on the Elbe.

The merchant Anton Julius Richter acquired the site in sections in 1890. As an admirer of Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898), he was allowed to rename the Waseberg to Bismarckstein with the approval of the responsible authorities.

In 1910, the community of Blankenese acquired the ridge with the wide view of the Elbe in order to open a community park there. A green forest park has grown out of the former farmland and heathland, in which the former observation tower forms a romantic eye-catcher.

A memorial for the fallen marines of the First World War can be found on a slope terrace facing the water.

As part of the Mammut March, I was rewarded with this view for the second time after a strenuous ascent.... embedded in beech forests, you can hike there very nicely.... provided you don't shy away from stairs and ascents and descents....

The site on which the Bismarckstein stands was bought in 1890 by the co-founder of the Holsten brewery, Julius Richter, and wanted to erect a Bismarck monument here. But in 1910 Blankenese bought the property and made the beautiful vantage point with a view of the Elbe open to the public.

On the slope of the 87 m high Waseberg there is a beautiful vantage point with a view of the Elbe. Due to the corresponding height, the entire width with the island of Neßsand in between becomes really clear. The E1 and E9 runs directly over the viewpoint.
