California Baltic Sea is not just a so-called beach area but also an official part of the Baltic Sea resort of Schönberg. The town sign at the town entrance, bearing the inscription "California," is a popular photo spot for vacationers.
The white sandy beach of California stretches from pier 18 to pier 29, a length of approximately 2 kilometers. There, the beach then merges into the district of Brasilien. To the south, the town borders Holm with its Baltic Sea Clinic and the Holm Baltic Sea Holiday Park. California has a small row of shops with various stores, as well as a small grocery store, a bicycle rental, and various restaurants, including a beach hotel (360° view of the promenade:
