Bruins (1946-2021) painted more than a hundred wall poems on the walls of houses in Leiden, and since 2015 also eight wall formulas, which showed physics equations with a Leiden connection.
Together with friend Ben Walenkamp, Bruins started the wall poems in 1992, in many languages. Bruins designed and painted the letters freehand, and always signed the poems with a spider.
In 2015, physicists Sense Jan van der Molen and Ivo van Vulpen persuaded the duo to also put physics formulas on walls. The first, about Einstein's general theory of relativity, appeared at the Boerhaave Museum.
