Bernau-Friedenstal station is a stop in Bernau on line S2 of the Berlin S-Bahn. The station is named after the Bernau settlement Friedensthal. However, after its construction in 1997, the station was called Bernau-Friedenstal. The "h" in the place name was deleted.
As early as 1921, a memorandum from the Stettiner Bahn transport association called for a suburban station to be built in the Bernau settlement Friedensthal between the existing Zepernick stop and Bernau station. However, construction did not begin until 1997. Private investors eventually got involved in the construction. Apart from the planning, it only took four months.
