Bens Fischbude, a Flensburg institution, is located directly at the Alte Museumswerft in the Museumshafen and is open daily from 12-19pm.
The fish sandwiches offered there are a poem! However, this is now known and there are regularly queues in front of the booth. The perseverance is worthwhile, however.

At the northern end of the wooden pier of the museum harbor, next to the Lüttfischern (fishermen's shed), stands the crane from 1726. Its long history connects it to harbor life.

In 1725, the elders of the Flensburg Seamen's Association submitted a petition to the city council of Flensburg requesting the construction of a "crane,"
the proceeds of which would benefit the orphanage on Norderstraße.

In 1726, it was decided to build the new crane. With the help of this crane,
the masts of the ships built at the Flensburg shipyards were installed.

It stood at the harbor until 1889 and was renovated several times.

This historic crane shaped the Flensburg cityscape and can be found today
in many variations on historical cityscapes.

The Flensburg Museum Harbor planned the construction of a replica in 1985.
The design drawings for this replica were based on the old photographic glass plate, which, due to its fine grain size, allowed for extreme magnification.

The construction was made possible with a donation from DANFOSS.

On September 14, 1991, the new old crane – or historical crane –
was inaugurated with a traditional crane festival.

Shortly before its 25th anniversary, the crane was in dire need of renovation and was
dismantled in 2016. A new crane, modeled after the old one, was erected. This was made possible by the special commitment of Flensburg residents,
private individuals, foundations, companies, and organizations.

For this purpose, they donated a total of over 30,000 euros to the museum harbor. The woodwork, from felling the trees to erecting the structure, was carried out by
the Arnd Papenhagen carpentry shop. The crane operators, Fred and Jochem, coordinated the project, and many hard-working hands helped out. Thanks to everyone!!!! that the landmark is once again lifting heavy loads and that port history can be experienced daily at the Museum Harbor.
