The lighthouse is beautifully situated and is known from the Jever Pils advertisement. You walk there through the salt marshes and can go back along the water. Gorgeous scenery!

I can really only recommend it to everyone if the tour is planned with children - not to be confused with the distance. In the wind, the route can be infinitely long and exhausting - for legs and nerves.

Westerhever Lighthouse ... over 100 years on duty!
Nestled in a landscape of salt marshes, the lighthouse, visible from afar, with its two identical houses, represents an ensemble of extraordinary charm.
The tower was built in 1906 on a 4 m high piled-up warp (127 thick, long oak piles) and concrete pedestal. On a brick pedestal, the tower was assembled from 608 cast iron plates bolted together. The structure then grew up to a height of 41.5 m above the mean tidal high water. Inside the tower are nine floors. In 1908 the beacon was put into operation.
The range of the arc lamp is 22 nautical nautical miles (1 NM = 1,852 km), at night with good visibility to the 50 km. Due to the automation, the lighthouse keeper left the tower in 1979. The houses are now inhabited by civil servants of the Wadden Sea Conservation Station. From the sea, with the help of the nautical chart showing the "mark" of the lighthouse, the color of the sector you are looking at and the rhythm of the flashing or steady light can tell you which way to go to the lighthouse.

Always well visited! The feeder road from the dike to the lighthouse is always full of people, both cyclists and hikers - so bring patience and tolerance, otherwise it gets stressful.
