The more than 100 year old mill is a landmark of Rysum. After being restored, it can now be visited. If there is enough wind, there are even milling demonstrations.

The mill is also great for a short or long rest, as there is a café and even rooms to stay overnight.

The mill is open daily from May to September. Admission is free.

Mill and church tower are visible from afar, if you approach the round warhead village Rysum. The landscape is just like a pot bottom and the wind from the nearby Ems estuary blows incessantly over the fields.
Rysum would be worth a visit without its mill. The place was created at a time when no dyke yet protected the people from the floods of the North Sea. They retreated to small hills - so-called terps. Their farms grouped them around the highest point of the Warft, where church and windmill still stand today. The clinkered streets lead to the two buildings in a star shape.
The mill is a three-story, brick-built, octagonal so-called Galerieholländerf and was built in 1895. Today it is a museum mill, which can be visited, but in which one can spend the night.
The technical equipment of the mill was repaired by a community of interest and is functional.
