Not far from the geographic center of Germany in Niederdorla is the Germanic sacrificial bog. The pre-Christian places of worship, beginning in the 6th century B.C.E. is one of the best preserved find complexes of this kind in Central Europe.

In two archaeological excavation campaigns under the direction of Prof. Behm-Blancke in 1957-1964 the cult sites and from 1964-1976 a multi-period settlement were excavated. The finds made indicate an intensive settlement of this region. A faithfully reconstructed Germanic settlement and the exhibition pavilion with finds from the excavations are a popular destination for families. In the facility, visitors not only experience Germanic everyday life on the days of the campaign, this is also possible for groups by prior appointment.
