Very nice and well-kept technical monument from the 19th century. The explanatory board that has been put up explains the engineering masterpiece of the degree measurement at that time. In the vicinity very well-kept memorials, which invite you to remember, commemorate and reflect. Whoever approaches this point stands on a mountain, all Royal Saxon triangulation stations are on hilltops.
Station No. 49 Salzenforst is a second order station of the triangular network of the Royal Saxon Triangulation. In the 19th century, the optical measuring devices were fixed on the monolith in order to locate other stations for surveying purposes. Most of these technical monuments are still preserved and as they all stand on hilltops they always offer a great view of Saxony as a destination.
From this station the stations 1st order No. 6 (Valtenberg), as well as the stations 2nd order No. 46 (Czorneboh) No. 48 (Groß Dubrau), No. 50 (Wetro), and No. 51 (Butterberg) targeted.
