The parish of Egypte was closed, and several members of the parish joined the parish of Birkeneli. After the Birkenela parish was closed, all members joined the Daugavpils Evangelical Lutheran Church. After the closing of the Egyptian church, a collective farm mill was installed in the building, which was powered by electricity. in 1979 milling was stopped and the mill dismantled.
