The chapel belongs to the Heilig-Geist-Hospital, which was founded around 1300 and was completely destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. In the documentary mention of 1363, the trades of bakers, grocers and butchers as well as private individuals and foreigners committed themselves to the maintenance of the hospital. In the 15th century, the chapel was given its current form as a three-bay hall church with a starry vault.
