How did people live, cook and farm in the past, when the North Sea was still on the doorstep? Answers can be found in a special, volunteer-organized collection in Fahretoft.
In the building of the Hans Momsen School in Fahretoft, today's community center, the Regional Folklore Museum offers an insight into everyday life and school life in times long past in the Frisian village. Until the school closed in 2009, Frisian lessons were also held here.

The museum's collection was put together by Hans-Otto Meier, who was head of the Hans Momsen School from 1971 to 1981. After the Dagebüll Local History Association was founded in 1982, he began documenting everyday life and trades in the marsh, initially through conversations with the residents.

Many contributed their photos and old equipment that they still had in the attic, such as tools for thatching roofs, old irons or shoemaking tools.
The Fahretoft Regional Folklore Museum offers guided tours for groups of five or more participants by prior arrangement. Contact: Dagebüll Local History Association, Hans-Otto Meier, Tel. 04674 366, heimatverein-dagebuell.de.
