In Sundsøre there was a small freight station, consisting of a warehouse and a track system for freight wagons, which was built in 1927 in connection with the introduction of the railway ferry "M/F Hvalpsund". In 1969 the rail connection to Hvalpsund was discontinued. Due to its poor condition, the railway building was due to be demolished in the late 1990s. But a group of locals wanted to change things and founded the "Sundsøre Pakhus" association on February 23, 1999. Thanks to funds provided, a comprehensive restoration began the following year, which was completed in 2001. From the beginning of April to the end of September, the museum in the "Pakhus" can be visited free of charge every day, but donations are welcome.
