In Serón the path begins the final stretch of the climb through the Alto Almanzora to El Hijate, the last town in Almería before entering the Granada plateau of Baza. The old border crossing was guarded by the Moorish watchtower of the Torre del Ramil, the remains are visible on an isolated hill to the left of the Nature Trail. The tower was part of the defensive line of the Nasrid era between the towers of Somontín and Caniles. At the border of the province of Granada, the section of the Sierra de Baza Greenway begins, near the solitary stop of El Hijate. The surface of the road changes, there is a patch of grass between the two ruts but it is perfectly cycleable on gravel and mountain bike. The environment is also different, the orchards and fruit fields embedded in the plain of the Almanzora River have disappeared and now the landscape is an endless plain that sinks into the Hoya de Baza. In the distance the plateau reaches the foothills of the Segura and Cazorla mountain ranges and to the south of the route emerge the reliefs of the protected natural area of the Sierra de Baza. And something important by bicycle, the slope is negative until the streets of Baza, pedaling through this suggestive and exclusive natural setting on such a comfortable and pleasant path is really enjoyable, when cyclists feel that they have chosen the best way to actively travel and learn about the landscapes of the world.
