Brandau is located in the Anterior Odenwald Forest and is the largest district of the municipality of Modautal.
The Old and New Town Halls, located in the immediate vicinity at the corner of Odenwaldstrasse and Römerberg, are worth seeing and form a defining feature of the townscape. The clock on the old town hall is one of the few tower clocks with only one hand.
