The spring was once said to have healing powers. Sick people drank it, and injured people washed their wounds and clothes in it. The Albverein now looks after the facility.

The older generation of Tailfinger residents can still remember how strong their belief in the positive effects of the water from the Heilig Brünnle was in their younger years. The facility has long since become nothing more than a meeting point to enjoy the beautiful view over Truchtelfingen and the valley.

The Brünnle was buried in 1911

The annals of the Tailfinger Albverein local group reveal that it was recorded in their former minutes book and "reported at the general meeting on May 2, 1939 on the Stiegel that the Heilig Brünnle was flowing again after it had been buried since the earthquake of 1911." The Alb Association brought the spring back to life

Whether the Brünnle, also called Brünnele, once had healing powers is something nobody knows today. However, the writer of the Tailfinger local history book also looked into it. There you can read, "Behind the Braunhardsberg, near the border between Tailfinger and Truchtelfinger Bann, the Holy Brünnle springs up. After it had dried up for a long time, the Swabian Alb Association captured it years ago and brought it back to life.

Path warden Hermann Conzelmann reached for the shovel

This was already the case before 1911, until the severe earthquake buried the spring or dried it up. In 1938, Eugen Wizemann and the then newly elected path warden Hermann Conzelmann spent many hours digging out the little well and restoring it. On July 29, 1939, at the end of the work, “this event was concluded with a photograph.”

A shelter was to be built here

Hermann Conzelmann, who held office for twenty years, had in mind, according to the annals, to build a shelter at Heilig Brünnle. "But the outbreak of war prevented the plan and gradually the work on the paths came to a standstill."

The Albverein still takes care of the facility responsibly today

As early as 1945, Hermann Conzelmann and his colleagues at the time set about adding path markings and making path improvements. The work also included the Heilig Brünnle on the Hermann-Maute-Weg, and nothing has changed to this day. "We regularly do our rounds there or check on the facility when we receive reports," says chairman Walter Buschbacher.

Two benches invite you to linger

He and some energetic colleagues ensure that the facility is always in good and clean condition. Nothing will change in the future; the eighty-year-old Brünnle with its two benches deserves it in the view of the Albverein members.
