    "The Kupfersiefen nature reserve covers the valley of the Kupfersiefer Bach from the source area west of the Schlehhecken (Lohmar) farmstead to the village of Menzlingen (Rösrath). In addition to the stream and the side streams that feed it, the area also includes the slopes of the valley. It is a forest-meadow valley typical of the Bergisches Land, which is characterized by the stream, which is in large parts very natural and meandering, with steep banks (kingfisher present). In addition to the remains of alluvial forest stands (alder-ash forests and starwort-oak-hornbeam forests), the valley floor includes species-rich wet meadows, which are mostly fragmentary forms of marsh marigold meadows. A large part of the previously fallow wet grassland areas is grazed or mown again as part of maintenance measures. In the slope areas, acidic beech or oak-beech forests are the vast majority, which, with a few exceptions, are growing in the valley. are in a very good state of preservation. In the area of the villages of Klein- and Großbliersbach, as well as at Schlehhecken, there are some very species-rich meadows of smooth oat grass, smaller extensive pastures. Remnants of former orchards have been preserved near Menzlingen (although completely overgrown) and near Großbliersbach (goat grazing). Worth mentioning is a still body of water with riparian woodland, reeds and adjacent tall herbaceous plants to the northeast of the Kupfersiefer mill. The old mill pond is an important breeding ground for amphibians and water-dependent insect species. The special value of the area lies in the largely natural course of the stream with its biotope complex typical of forest-meadow valleys, consisting of alluvial forests, species-rich wet and lean grassland and middle-aged beech forests. It is particularly worth mentioning that, in contrast to many other stream valleys in the Bergisches Land, the stream valley is not fully developed for tourism and there is no continuous hiking trail along the stream. This creates calm areas and also enables species that are sensitive to disturbance, such as the kingfisher, to breed."
