Gospa od Škrpjela (Our Lady of the Rocks or Our Lady of the Rocks in English) is a small artificial island of 0.38 hectares located in the Bay of Kotor, Montenegro, off the coast of the village of Perast.
The island is formed from rocks and the remains of old wrecked boats transported by locals. [2] There is a tradition on the island known as Felsenwerfens, which consists of commemorating the construction of the island on July 22nd of each year by throwing stones into the sea, which gradually increases the island's surface area.
The church on the island, built in 1632, was renovated and enlarged in 1722, and in 1979 it became (along with the entire Bay of Kotor) a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
