Located in the province of Toledo, it is a municipality and town in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha. Its place name has an interesting history: “Turleque” derives from a mixture of Latin and Arabic. The prefix “tur” comes from the Latin “turris”, which means “tower”, while the ending “leque” is characteristic of Mozarabic. Therefore, “Turleque” would come to mean “torrezuela” or “little turret.”
