Rubjerg Church in its current form dates from 1904. It was built by architect K. Varming using material and fittings from the former Romanesque ashlar church, which stood in a lonely dune area after sand drifts.
The old church of Rubjerg was built around 1180 in a wealthy parish. It was a relatively large church built in the most densely populated part of the parish.

At the beginning of the 17th century, the church stood alone in a desert-like landscape, a mile away from the beach's dune landscape. Poverty followed and the church was therefore not maintained. In 1904, a new church was built two kilometers south where the people of the parish lived.

At the original site of the church, a small piece of the brick core and some of the gravestones have been preserved in the now completely overgrown cemetery: Gammel Rubjerg Cemetery. The place is designated as a tourist attraction on the road between Lønstrup and Løkken.
The church has been largely rebuilt in its original form, including original details such as the two bricked-up doors to the south and north. The tower with a pyramid roof was added during the reconstruction.
Inside, the round choir arch has been preserved. The church has a flat beamed ceiling. The church's late Gothic choir arch crucifix now stands on the altar. The baptismal font is old Romanesque. The pulpit is probably from the middle of the 17th century.
