Unfortunately, I couldn't see the magnificent property; the gate was locked, and a tour wasn't possible.
The main wing of the former moated castle proudly bears the coat of arms of the von Wiedenbrück-Schorlemer family. This noble family is considered the builder of the castle, which was first mentioned in documents in 1359. However, less than a hundred years later, the property passed into the possession of the Lords of Schwicker, who gave it its name. Little is known about further changes of ownership until the current brick building was built in 1811 and the plastered extension was added in 1830. In the last century, the two-winged manor house with its round tower served as a residence, summer residence, children's home, and convalescent home, and today houses a private architectural firm.
