It was built in the period of Emperor Guangxu. The main room consists of five rooms and is called the Songchun Room. Empress Dowager Cixi changed clothes and rested here when she visited the Jingfu Pavilion.
On March 25, 1949, Mao Zedong led the organs of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to come from Xibaipo to Beijing. On the first day of their arrival, they settled down and rested in the Hall of Increasing Longevity. That evening, they entertained Democratic representatives to discuss the grand plan for the founding of the People's Republic of China. It was an important stop on the Communists' route to Beijing.
