One of the most famous citizens of Rahlstedt is Friedrich Adolf Axel Freiherr von Liliencron,
probably better known as Detlev von Liliencron. The poet and playwright spent the last years of his life in a villa on what is now Rahlstedter Bahnhofstrasse.
Today it borders a small green area along the Wandse hiking trail in Hamburg-Rahlstedt, the Liliencronpark.

Today Detlev von Liliencron is considered one of the most important representatives of literary impressionism. In his honor, on June 3, 1934, on his 90th birthday, a monument designed by Arthur Wiechert and built by August Dabelstein was inaugurated in the park.

At the same time, the Liliencronpark was opened to the public,
after it had been created on the initiative of the mayor Heinrich Schulz.
Two years previously, the old mill pond at this location had been almost drained.
It once served a grain mill owned by surrounding farmers. Even today, you can still see the mill building, which has been converted into a residential building, opposite the park.

In addition to the impressive Liliencron monument, there is also a memorial stone in the green area with the inscription "Up ewig ungedeelt" - forever undivided. It commemorates the uprising of the Schleswig-Holsteiners in 1848 in the course of demanding independence from Denmark. The stone was placed here together with a double oak tree on the 100th anniversary of the uprising.
