However, these do not have a natural origin, but are the result of the settlement of the mountains more than 1000 years ago. At that time, the forest was cleared, fields were planted and cattle were herded in the forest. The first settlements were built, roads were built and railway tracks were laid. The forest grazing that was common at the time eventually led to overuse of the forests, so meadows were created that were then cultivated. Different plants and animals settled depending on the location, nutrient content, moisture and type of use, and different types of meadows emerged that can only be preserved through use.
