This iron pedestrian bridge over the Dender was built in 1913.

It replaced a ferry that was previously there and was run by the innkeeper of "De Zwarte Fles" (a café that has since disappeared, on the site where the cafeteria of the same name of Schoonderhage vzw is now located).
Between the two world wars, the inn and iron bridge grew into a popular attraction for Brussels residents who went fishing there. The residents of the capital usually took the farmer's tram to get to the Dender region.
The Second World War almost proved fatal for the bridge. Retreating English soldiers blew up all the Dender bridges on 18 May 1940, including the one at Pollare. The bridge broke into two unequal parts. The longest part was straightened and supported by wooden pillars. The remaining distance was bridged with tree trunks. The bridge was finally repaired in 1948.
