                                        Arco Castle sits enthroned high on a mighty rocky hill. Here, with its steep walls, it watches over the Sarca Valley and of course the town of Arco, whose historic center lies like a semicircle around the slopes of the castle hill. The first documents about the castle date back to the 12th century, although here already around 300 BC. first settlements are said to have arisen.

                                        Inside the magnificent castle there is a prison to visit, but also the large tower and numerous stately halls and chambers. A true gem is the 14th-century secular fresco cycle, brought back to life thanks to the restoration work carried out in 1986 by the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Autonomous Province of Trento. It depicts personalities and court life: from noble ladies and noble men playing chess to Saint George slaying the dragon, brave knights and a lady arranging garlands of roses.

                                        Arco Castle is also the symbol of the city and one of the most famous testimonies to Trentino's glorious past. It was immortalized in many pictures and engravings, including a watercolor by Albrecht Dürer, which today hangs in the Louvre in Paris.

                                        Arco Castle can be visited.
